2010 Theme: Agricultural Heritage
The International Day for Monuments and Sites (informally known as the World Heritage Day) was created on 18th April, 1982, by ICOMOS and later approved at the 22nd UNESCO General Conference in 1983. This special day offers an opportunity to raise public awareness concerning the diversity of the world?s heritage and the efforts that are required to protect and conserve it, as well as to draw attention to its vulnerability.
While celebrating the world heritage day every citizen must aware about their role in protection and promotion of world heritage sites. Awareness has to be spread among the people,particularly youth, to get antiquities protected. Initiatives must be taken to publish more articles in blogs,dailies and in other available sources to popularize the importance of heritage sites. Formally planned program?s have to be organized to bring out attention of local and foreign visitors to our nearest world heritage sites. Organize small groups and promote worthy discussions about world heritage sites and emphasize its need to be protected. Arrange visit to nearest monuments and sites.
In specific to the 2010 theme Agricultural heritage, emphasize the importance and aspects of traditional agricultural system and practices. Participate in exhibitions and heritage awareness campaigns.
